That my friends is RARE in my book.

Earl C. Slipher (25 March 1883-7 August 1964) was a legendary Planetary Astronomer and a member of the International Astronomical Union, Chairman of the International Mars Commission and Director of the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Arizona.

He is most famous for his book The Photographic Story of Mars which he then followed up with this book published in 1964 by the Lowell Observatory, Flagstaff, Arizona and the National Geographic Society of Washington, D.C.

There are 62 Photographic Plates indeed…

…each plate illustrates one or so cool features of the planets he photographed: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn with explanations of each and every plate.

The book is protected in a clear archival cover, contains no marks or writing, and seems to be unread.

Forty Illustrators & How They Work

By Ernest W. Watson

1946 First Edition published by Watson - Guptill Publications New York as part of the Creative Arts Library.

318 pages, 24 color, 300 black & white illustrations.

Color plates include the work of (but not limited to): Norman Rockwell, N.C. Wyeth, Earnest Hamlin Baker and others.

The book cover boards are not in good shape and there is spine separation but the pages are in good shape and the illustrations are bright and colorful.

The price reflects the condition of the book and would be far higher if the book was in perfect shape. I rate the OVERALL condition of the book as a 7 out of 10…minus some for the conditions of the boards, plus some for the wonderful condition of the illustrations.
